Sleep, performance and my Sealy bed

December 3, 2015

Good quality sleep is something that’s easy to overlook, but as an athlete it is a major part of my sporting program. Exercise depletes energy, fluids, and breaks down muscle. Hydration and the right fuel are only part of training and recovery. Sleep is key.

I want to make sure I get the best possible quality of sleep to help me recover from training, and injury faster, and make sure I am in top form physically and mentally for competition. I spent a long time researching the best beds, and found my perfect one from Sealy.

It’s just the right mix of comfort and support for me. I love going to bed because I know as soon as I lie down, I’m going to relax and wake up in the morning refreshed and ready for the day.

I could definitely feel a difference as soon as I started sleeping in my new bed, my sporting performance improved and my body generally felt better in the morning with less aches and pains. I felt more alert mentally as well, as I was more rested I could concentrate better than ever before.

Another big thing for me was recovery from injury. My sport isn’t the safest unfortunately, so injuries are common. I found I recovered faster after having a good nights sleep, allowing me to get back to training sooner! Be it a broken bone or a torn ligament I will do everything I can to get back into training, and back on a board as soon as I can. I know that getting good quality sleep is essential to recovery, your body needs this time to repair.

I think the benefits of a good quality sleep are extremely underrated. If you think of how much of your life you spend sleeping (around 33% on average!) you realize how important it is to be spending that time in a good quality bed. I would recommend Sealy to anyone. They have a massive range of beds so there really is one that’s right for everyone.

No bed in the world has ever made me feel as great as mine does. Thank you Sealy!
